The highly-anticipated second season premiere of the comics-turned-show Invincible is out now and you are not ready for what is coming from the rest of the season.

Imagine if The Boys and Justice League had a baby. Yes. That’s Invincible in a nutshell – which means it is a brutal, raw, and incredible show. Definitely not for kids.

The first season of Invincible introduced viewers to the world of Mark Grayson, a seemingly typical teenager, except for the fact that his father, Nolan Grayson, is the most powerful superhero on the planet – Omni-Man. For someone like myself who loves a good villain, I absolutely loathe Omni-Man’s existence – just to give you an idea of how awful he truly is.

As Mark develops powers of his own and taking on the role of Invincible, he is forced to face the reality and burdens that come with his newfound abilities and the high expectations of being Omni-Man’s son. The first season is a pretty turbulent and raw journey of self-discovery, betrayal, and brutal truths (understatement of the year), as Mark’s idealistic view of what being a hero means is shattered by the end. The horrific finale reveals Nolan’s true intentions and colors, and the dark heritage of the Viltrumite race, leaving the world in complete chaos and setting the stage for the challenges that Mark must face in the seasons to come.

Invincible, based on the comics by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, has captivated audiences with its mature storytelling, complex characters, and willingness to subvert superhero tropes. The comic series, praised for its detailed world-building and character development, runs deep with a narrative that spans over a decade, exploring the consequences of power and the cost of heroism in a universe that is as unforgiving as it is vast.

Fans of the show and the comics alike are anxiously waiting to see how the animated series will adapt the insane and rich material in its upcoming episodes. If I were you, I’d be prepared as we dissect Invincible season 2 and witness the evolution of Mark Grayson, his allies, and all the incoming chaos in the series’ savage world.

Shall we?
