Jujutsu Kaisen’s new episode, “Fluctuations, Part 2”, can only be described as an episode full of twists, unprecedented turns, and absolute terror.

Holy Jujutsu.

I don’t even have a sassy introduction prepared, so here is the OBLIGATORY SPOILER WARNING FOR THE ENTIRE EPISODE AND SEASON SO FAR.

Just when we thought our heroes, including Nanami, Maki, and Naobito, were about to breathe a sigh of relief and break free from Dagon’s grasp… enter Toji Fushiguro – Megumi’s dad. Dramatically bursting onto the scene, he not only blocks their exit but also swipes Maki’s triple-sectioned staff for a showdown with Dagon.

For those of you scratching your heads at Toji’s sudden comeback, it’s all thanks to some unforeseen ripple effects from a previous takedown by Megumi, Yuji, and Ino. But Toji’s confrontation with Dagon? Absolutely badass. He totally MAPPAs the floor with him. I am so sorry. MAPPA truly outdid themselves, capturing each thunderous blow with such finesse that you’d think mountains would crumble with each of Toji’s hits. And if you thought Toji was OP before, it seems he’s added a couple more aces up his sleeve after his last defeat.

But this is Jujutsu Kaisen – the action doesn’t stop there. After absolutely obliterating Dagon, Toji shifts his attention to Megumi, separating him from his friends. But the episode skillfully redirects our focus to Nanami, Maki, and Naobito, who face off against Jogo. Remember Jogo? The one who always seemed a tad outmatched by Gojo? The fact their names are so similar still cracks me up. But, well, this episode serves as a rude awakening, reminding us of Jogo’s menacing power as he sets our trio ablaze effortlessly.

They better not be dead. Sometimes, I wish I had read the manga first. But, alas…

The second greatest shock comes with the awakening of Sukuna. The atmosphere turns ice-cold as the episode zooms into the characters’ horrified faces, making Sukuna’s terrifying aura palpable. His might rivals Gojo’s, but his wickedness is on another level, leaving everyone treading on eggshells around him. He is pure evil incarnate.

Things take a pretty grim turn when Sukuna confronts the trio behind his revival. His gratitude? Well, let’s just say it’s non-existent. The horror intensifies, especially with Nanako’s horrifying demise, proof that Jujutsu Kaisen isn’t all fun battles and silly Gojo moments – the show also has its wonderfully unique blend of action and dark themes.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger, as Sukuna dares Jogo with an offer he can’t escape from – if Jogo can just touch him in a fight, he’ll work with him. I don’t think that’s going to work really well for him at all.

From start to finish, “Fluctuations, Part 2” is full of twists, awesome visuals, and oh, shit moments. I know I definitely said that more than a couple of times myself.

A must-watch, this episode proves yet again why Jujutsu Kaisen remains a fan favorite. Be sure to catch this and all its previous episodes and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie on Crunchyroll!
