The Boys season 4 elects 2024 release in new teasers featuring Homelander and Butcher

The Boys season 4 is coming in 2024! Amazon officially confirmed when The Boys season 4 will premiere just one week after the season finale of Gen V, a spinoff of the hit Prime Video original series.

Amazon announced the release year for the new season of The Boys on social media with a few new teasers featuring Homelander (Antony Starr) and Butcher (Karl Urban). The Boys official Twitter also tweeted a first-look image from season 4, which includes Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Komiko (Karen Fukuhara), and Frenchie (Tomer Capon), along with the caption “Supebusters, back on yer tubes 2024.”

Prior to the November confirmation, we were unsure if The Boys season 4 would actually be released in 2024. There was hope that we would see the season in 2023, but the WGA and SAG strikes played a part in that. Showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke also confirmed the show would return in 2024, but this is the first time we’re hearing from the streaming network, which is ultimately the decision-maker in when The Boys season 4 would premiere.

One teaser features Homelander surrounded by balloons and confetti seemingly celebrating on election night, which we know is going to play a major part of season 4’s story. Butcher is featured in the other teaser, surrounded by the confetti and balloons covering the ground and looking dejected.

It’s fitting that Amazon is rolling out election-themed teasers for a 2024 release. Next year is an election year in the United States, and the election in The Boys has become central to the story in the series, along with the story in Gen V, which featured an appearance from Vice Presidential candidate Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) on the Godolkin University campus.

And, speaking of Gen V — SPOILERS AHEAD — the last time we saw Homelander and Butcher on screen was in the last few minutes and credits scene of Gen V. Homelander appeared at Godolkin to frame Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway), Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo), and Jordan Li (Derek Luh and London Thor) for the massacre at Godolkin.

Butcher, then, appears in the post-credits scene in “The Woods,” possibly investigating what went down at Godolkin and the location of origin of the virus that could wipe out all of the Supes.

Obviously, it’s disappointing we have to wait until 2024 sometime to see the new season. We still don’t know when exactly to expect the new season to premiere in 2024. We have to imagine there’s still work to be done on season 4 with post-production and possiblyADR, which would require the actors, who are currently on strike, to go back to work to finish that up.

If that’s the case, we likely won’t see The Boys season 4 until the summer or fall of 2024, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
