There is no Loki season 2 episode 6 post-credit scene (and Jonathan Majors might be why)

Oddly, there is no Loki season 2 episode 6 post-credit and we can’t help but wonder whether the reason might be connected to Marvel’s Kang problem.

Loki season 2 episode 6 is officially streaming on Disney+ and the finale left us absolutely speechless. It was a true gut punch and it wasn’t the only blow Marvel delivered.

In a shocking and unexpected twist, the season 2 finale came and went without a single post-credit scene. That’s right. There was no post-credit, mid-credit, or end-credit scene of any kind. Nothing. Nada. This is a major departure for Marvel and we can’t help but question whether the decision was connected to the ongoing dilemma that is Kang.

The lack of a Loki season 2 episode 6 post-credit scene is puzzling

While we’ve come to expect that Marvel won’t give us a post-credit scene in each episode of its shows, the finales have long been used to set up upcoming Marvel projects. Given it was teased that the finale would set up Kang, we thought there would be a big and flashy scene after the credits rolled framed in a similar way to how Marvel approached Thanos.

As fans will recall, Thanos might not have popped up in a large role until Avengers: Infinity War, but through post-credit scenes, Marvel was able to build up the character’s introduction in a way that built anticipation.

It seemed like that was going to be the play after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania included two post-credits scenes featuring Kang variants. One was used to directly set up Loki season 2 while the other teased a larger threat building.

We thought the Loki finale would continue to build hype for Kang’s looming arrival but that was not the case. Marvel opted not to include any bonus footage after the finale’s final scene with no hints of what is to come next. So what gives?

Marvel’s Kang problem might be to blame for the Loki finale post-credit scene omission

As we know, Marvel is currently dealing with a Kang problem, or should we say a Jonathan Majors problem. Following the actor’s arrest earlier this year, Marvel has avoided commenting on the situation or its plans for Majors moving forward.

Recently, Variety hinted that Marvel is still trying to figure out what to do amid Majors’ ongoing legal troubles with the actor facing charges of domestic abuse. The report from Variety did not mince words with one insider claiming that Marvel is “truly f–ked with the whole Kang angle,” and that they “don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”

The report alleged that Marvel has been considering bringing in Doctor Doom to replace Kang as the Big Bad for their next stage or potentially recasting the role of Kang. While no decision has been made, it seems highly likely that the decision not to include a post-credit scene might have been a result of Marvel’s Kang dilemma.

By not including any type of teaser, Marvel has basically bought itself some more time to figure things out and identify what its plan will be for the upcoming Avengers movie. There is a chance they could keep Majors in the picture, but if they have to pivot with a recast or villain change not having a post-credit scene to directly build toward something that might not happen is ultimately best for everyone.

Not including any type of teaser building toward Kang’s arrival, Marvel buys itself some time and avoids writing itself into a corner. If the studio included a bonus scene featuring Majors’ character, it would leave fans with an expectation that it was building toward the next Avengers movie or another direct project. If Marvel is forced to pivot away from its plan with Kang be it by bringing in Doctor Doom or recasting Kang, it would be better for the studio not to have to worry about delivering upon a promise teased in a post-credit scene.
