After months of disappointing updates about its final season, Stranger Things season 5 has received its most exciting update in months!
With both the writers’ and actors’ strikes now in our rearview mirrors, Hollywood is finally looking to get back up and running. Now that actors can return to sets, studios are looking to get cameras rolling on their biggest shows and movies with each studio making their priorities clear.
It likely comes with little shock to know that, for Netflix, there is no bigger priority than Stranger Things. Now that the actors can begin filming, Netflix is ready to dive right into things with the show becoming one of the first Netflix shows to resume filming! That’s right, we’re about to get one step closer to the final season becoming a reality!
Stranger Things season 5 will finally start filming in November
During an interview on the red carpet for BoxLunch’s Feeding America charity gala, Stranger Things star David Harbour revealed that Netflix is looking to begin filming before the Thanksgiving holiday, confirming it’ll be the first project he’ll be working on post-strike.
"“I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?” Harbour teased. “I got to be down there, like, in a couple of days. We got to get going — we’re late.”"
The fact that Stranger Things season 5 will begin filming before the end of November is a major step in the right direction for the show and shows that it’s Netflix’s top priority.
The Duffer Brothers and the creative team have been hard on getting things prepared for filming ever since the writers’ strike ended. This will allow the actors to make their way to set to begin filming the final season just days after the actors’ strike was resolved with the new SAG-AFTRA deal inked with studios.
While we’re not likely to see the final season until 2025, knowing that filming is officially beginning means we should start to get more news about the final season. It also means Netflix can start closing the gap between seasons and avoid having to delay the show’s farewell season even further.
