9. Star Trek: Invasion (2000)

Star Trek: Invasion takes us back to the days of the original PlayStation. Imagine you’re in the pilot’s seat of a fighter craft, adrenaline is pumping through your veins, and the stars are your playground. It’s every Trekkie’s dream to zip around space and get into dogfights with other alien races. Invasion offers a fantastic flight combat experience, taking cues from the Star Trek: Voyager series, which means you get to dive deep into the Delta Quadrant where adventure (and a bit of trouble) is always just around the next star system.

It’s the combination of tight controls, a plot that could easily be a lost episode from the show (complete with voice acting from the actual Voyager cast), and the thrill of real-time space dogfights that makes this game ridiculously fun. Players get to join the elite Red Squad and tackle a story that feels both fresh and authentically Star Trek, with twists, turns, and, of course, the occasional Borg encounter.

Despite the game not being the captain of the fleet when it comes to depth – it’s a little more “shoot first and ask questions later” than a diplomatic mission – it captures the essence of what makes Star Trek so enjoyable.
