15. Adrian Chase – Prometheus

Often, a superhero will encounter a villain who is their dark mirror, someone who shows how simple it would have been for the hero to have taken a different path. Adrian Chase certainly serves this purpose for Oliver Queen. The main antagonist of Arrow season 5 is arguably the best villain the show has produced (or at the very least, in the top two).

Prometheus was a force to be reckoned with and managed to actually break Oliver’s spirits completely. The scene when he got Oliver to admit that he wanted to kill and he enjoyed it was a fantastic scene that took a lot of getting over for the hero. He showed his calculating mind but also impressed the Green Arrow with his combat skills. This was particularly evident when he performed a move that Oliver recognized straight away as one taught to him by his old teacher, Talia Al Ghul.

Because he’d learned from one of Oliver’s old teachers, he was quite evenly matched with him and, arguably, actually achieved what he set out to do: break Oliver Queen. He broke the Green Arrow completely and even seemed to have completely killed his team. Needless to say, Adrian Chase was a lot more dangerous than he first seemed when he debuted as Oliver’s trusted district attorney.
