Miles Morales and Peter Parker will both be Spider-Man in the upcoming Marvel Comics ongoing series, Spectacular Spider-Men.
After the 2015 Secret Wars ended, Miles Morales was relocated. He went from the Ultimate Universe (Earth 1610) into Earth-616. This wasn’t the first time Peter Parker and Miles met.
The two spider totems joined forces in the Ultimate Universe in a mini-series called Spider-Men. Years later, they teamed up on Earth-616 in Spider-Men 2. Now, Marvel is finally doing what they should have done years ago. Peter and Miles are joining forces in an ongoing series titled Spectacular Spider-Men.
Both Spider-Men are beloved by comic book fans. The addition of the Insomniac video game (Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation) only heightened their popularity. It was only a matter of time before Peter and Miles teamed up in an ongoing series. Bringing in writer Greg Weisman (Gargoyles) and artist Humberto Ramos (who’s become a consistent Spider-Man artist) could make this one of the best comic book projects of 2024.
"“I’m so thrilled to be writing Spidey again, and the fact that I get to write both Spideys, together, makes the gig doubly sweet,” -Greg Weisman"
Having two Spider-Men in one comic book will be a good thing. Both heroes protect and fight in different ways. Peter has the experience to know when to fight and when to use his science brain. Miles has an ever-growing set of venom powers and fights with more street savvy. Their personalities differ as well because they were raised differently. This adds variety to the upcoming series and makes things more interesting.
The Spider-Men’s first test will be against a classic Spider-man villain, the Jackal. A character known for immoral genetic tests. It’s easy to guess that he’s up to the same shenanigans. If that’s the case, whatever he’s working on will follow Peter and Miles. It could possibly be a brand-new villain created by the mad scientist. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out what that is.
