14. Batman Ninja
That brings us to the most Elseworlds of all the Elseworlds tales: Batman Ninja.
Few knew what to expect from Batman Ninja prior to its release but when it did make its presence felt, there was a resoundingly positive response from fans and critics who were anywhere between pleasantly surprised to overwhelmed with joy. That’s the beauty of Batman Ninja.
The film is an epic tale of time travel and survival, as The Dark Knight is accidentally sent into the past, arriving in Feudal Japan – where The Joker is attempting to take over and rewrite history. It’s up to Batman to battle the Clown Prince of Crime and restore order (and the timeline). What follows is a thrilling adventure that sees the Caped Crusader struggle to get used to his new surroundings and form some unlikely friendships. There are some unexpected DC cameos in there and a lot of stunning battle sequences.
Batman Ninja‘s greatest aspect may be its gorgeous visuals, thanks in no small part to the animation style and character designs. It’s a visual masterpiece and that, coupled with its engaging storyline and thrilling battles, makes it a must-watch.
This was the adventure we didn’t know we needed, but we’re so glad we found out.
