13. The LEGO Batman Movie

That brings us to the most unusual (and oddly enough, perhaps the most well-known) movie on this list. The LEGO Batman Movie isn’t part of the DC Animated Universe nor is it one of the DC Universe animated movies; it’s exactly what it says on the tin (in oh so many ways).

A collaboration between Warner Bros. and Lego, the 2017 film was a spinoff of The LEGO Movie and featured Will Arnett reprising his role as The Dark Knight. Though “dark” is relative term, because this version of the Caped Crusader is anything but dark. He’s a light-hearted, occasionally sarcastic, and all-around hilarious joy – much like the movie itself.

The LEGO Batman Movie is family-friendly fun at its finest – with a real emphasis on the “family” element, as its central story revolves around Batman – Gotham City’s celebrity superhero – learning to trust others and ultimately building out the Bat-Family. It’s a learning journey for him, and a fun one to watch unfold on our screens.

This might not be the movie for the Batman fans who appreciate his darker material, but as far as good old-fashioned entertainment goes, it understands and exceeds the assignment. You put this on and you’re guaranteed an evening of pure unadulterated entertainment, full of Batman and DC Easter Eggs – and you really couldn’t ask for anything more.
