12. Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

It doesn’t get more fun than the Caped Crusader taking on (and teaming up with) the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and we’re happy to report that the animated movie understood the assignment. Released in 2019, Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was based on the comics miniseries written by James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II, which sees the turtles end up in Gotham City and face-to-face with The Dark Knight.

Neither Batman nor the Turtles can really believe the other exists but, after quite the battle, they are united by a shared threat, as Shredder and Ra’s Al Ghul join forces to destroy Gotham. Thus, the Turtles must team up with the Bat-Family to take them down and save Gotham before its too late.

The movie strikes a pretty great balance between serious and silly, making for an entertaining adventure that isn’t afraid to reel you in with some high stakes. It’s good fun, but high quality fun, delivering on all fronts as one of the most enjoyable outings from the Batman and TMNT franchises. And its star-studded cast, which features Troy Baker, Darren Criss, Rachel Bloom, Tom Kenny and more, is exquisite.

If there’s one animated Batman movie with scope for a sequel, it’s this one (and we’d love to see it!).
