9. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

Another incredibly underrated classic, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies was one of the earlier DC Universe Animated Original Movies so that might explain why it’s overlooked from time-to-time, but we’re here to remind you just how good it is.

Released in 2009, it saw The Dark Knight team up with the Man of Steel to stop Lex Luthor, who had been elected President of the United States. A terrifying thought, for sure, and one that Luthor intended on making the most of, as he used altered footage of a fight between Superman and Metallo in an attempt to convince the world that Superman and Batman were dangers to mankind.

We love a good detective story, and the Caped Crusader teams up with Superman to prove their innocence, reveal what kind of man Lex Luthor really is, and save the world from a meteorite. Public Enemies delivers on that front, while also being a great team-up movie for the two legendary DC heroes, highlighting how both their differences and similarities make them a great team. The “that was my best friend” sequence in the final act is incredibly moving.

This is a hidden gem in the DC animated movie classics and one of its biggest strengths is the voice cast, many of whom reprise their roles from the legendary DCAU. As always, Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly made a remarkable team.
