27. The Batman Unlimited Movies

If you’ve read our list of animated Batman TV shows, you might be familiar with the Batman Unlimited animated series. It’s an all-but-forgotten piece of the Caped Crusader’s well-documented television saga that streamed on YouTube during a time when the toy line of the same name was hitting shelves. A somewhat more famous chapter of that story was the trilogy of Batman Unlimited movies that were released between 2015 and 2016.

Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts came first, followed by Monster Mayhem later that year, and the final chapter Mech Vs. Mutants the following summer. As highlighted by the titles, these movies existed as a means of promoting the toy line as they all leaned into the outlandishly cool tech and gadgets that the Bat-Family and their villains possessed. Their plots aren’t the most complex nor do they reinvent the wheel, but they do understand the assignment they were given, producing entertaining spectacles that are as ambitious as they are enjoyable.

They don’t particularly add anything new to the Batman lore, but they are light-hearted entertainment guaranteed to thrill a younger audience and the three movies also feature some great performances from the likes of Roger Craig Smith, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Will Friedle.
