Pedro Pascal is transformed into Mister Fantastic in a stunning new piece of fan art that proves why he’s the perfect man for the role!
It seems Pedro Pascal might soon be taking on yet another iconic franchise. After conquering Star Wars with his work in The Mandalorian and making TV history by leading a successful video game adaptation in HBO’s The Last of Us, it seems Pascal is setting his sights on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to reports, Pascal is in the final stages of negotiations with Marvel to take on the role of Reed Richards in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie. While the deal hasn’t been finalized just yet, it seems Pascal is closing in on the role and the internet has a lot of thoughts.
While some are disappointed that Marvel isn’t bringing back John Krasinski, the overwhelming feeling among fans is excitement. Fans are eager to see Pascal take on the role and we can’t blame them as the idea of Pascal taking on the role is incredibly exciting!
Fan art imagines Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic
It might be a while before we get to see Pascal actually suit up as Mister Fantastic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — after all, Fantastic Four isn’t set to hit theaters until 2025 — but thanks to the amazing talents of online artists, we’re getting a glimpse at just how perfect Pascal is for the role.
Inspired by the recent reports of Pascal’s casting, digital artist Samukarts debuted a stunning piece of concept art that transformed Pascal into Mister Fantastic.
Through the new art, Marvel fans get a hint of what could come as Pascal dons the iconic Fantastic Four supersuit. The suit in question happens to be inspired by the one John Krasinski wore in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and we have to say Pascal looks incredible in the ensemble. Sure, there is a chance Marvel will be introducing a new suit when the team assembles for their standalone movie but regardless of the final suit design, there is no denying Pascal is a perfect selection for the seasoned hero.
Pedro Pascal’s Fantastic Four casting hints Marvel’s heroes will be older
Casting Pascal hints that Marvel is looking to introduce a more mature version of the character than the one we met in 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four.
Ioan Gruffudd was only 32 years old when he played Reed Richards in the 2005 film, while Pascal will be 50 by the time Marvel Studios’ film releases in 2025. This is far from a bad thing as it seems to hint Marvel won’t be introducing the heroes as a newfound group of heroes but rather as a seasoned superhero team.
It’s quite possible the film will touch upon their origin, but the casting of Pascal hints that perhaps Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie will center around a Fantastic Four who have been fighting crime for several years. This would be a welcome departure as we don’t need another origin story and this shift in the characters’ ages could help Marvel tell stories it previously hadn’t explored.
This could pave the way for the Mister Fantastic of the MCU to be a father and therefore allow Marvel to introduce Reed and Sue Storm’s son, Franklin Richards, into the cinematic universe for the first time.
Regardless of what Marvel might have in store, bringing a name such as Pedro Pascal into the fold is a decision that is sure to bring a lot of attention to the film and get audiences excited about the project. What will be most interesting is to see who will suit up alongside Pascal in the film’s other key roles!
