5. Bobbie Draper

Bobbie Draper in The Expanse is like the kick-butt, no-nonsense type that you can’t help but cheer for, landing her solidly at number 5 on my list. Starting out as a Martian marine and then going rogue, Bobbie’s story is like a rollercoaster ride of action and personal growth. She’s the one you see on the front line, jumping towards the danger, not afraid to throw a punch or stand up for what she believes in. This makes her super engaging to watch – there’s literally never a dull moment with Bobbie around.

Bobbie’s dynamic and at-times shaky relationship with Chrisjen Avasarala only adds complexity to the series. Bobbie, a no-nonsense Martian marine, and Avasarala, the savvy and political mastermind UN Deputy Undersecretary, form an unlikely but incredible alliance. Their interactions are some of my favorite moments in the series, and they’re a welcome blend of witty banter, contrasting perspectives, and occasional clashes of ideology. Bobbie and Avasarala’s evolving relationship not only contributes to the character dynamics but also highlights the show’s ability to explore the topics of loyalty, trust, and friendship in the middle of interplanetary tensions.

What I like the most about her is how she evolves over the series. She’s not just about the muscle (though she does have very nice ones) – there’s a lot of depth to her character. She starts off pretty loyal to Mars, but as things unfold, you see her questioning things, making some tough calls, and growing in ways that add layers to her character. This journey she’s on isn’t just about fighting – it’s about figuring out where she stands in a universe that’s constantly changing. That mix of action-packed scenes and personal development is what makes Bobbie such a standout in the show and why she nabs the number 6 spot on my list.
