16. Mufasa

"“Remember who you are.” -Mufasa"

When Simba disobeys Mufasa, he immediately lets his son know what the issue is. He was stern, but there was still compassion in his voice. He wanted him to know that there was a reason for his emotions. Fans have seen how some fictional fathers don’t try to understand. They punish harshly and end up regretting how they reacted (looking at you, King Triton).

Mufasa’s death is among the saddest. He treated everyone with respect. Even the hyenas that tried to kill Simba and his brother caused his demise. Mufasa knew his brother was no good, but he still tried to help him. It’s disappointing that his compassion ends up being his downfall. Makes you wonder if Mufasa should have killed Scar.

15. Mary Poppins

"“Though we adore men individually, we agree that as a group they’re rather stupid.” -Mary Poppins"

Mary Poppins doesn’t get the recognition she deserves. She came out of nowhere and turned a house into a home. She didn’t use anything negative to do it. Everything she talked about involved happiness and a positive resolution. “A spoon of sugar makes the medicine go down” is a perfect example. Some things are going to stink, but a little positive reinforcement helps.

Take a look at her most famous song, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”. A nonsense word that made people happy. People danced and sang as she explained what it meant. Meanwhile, she’s using it to show how something that means nothing can turn into something positive. That’s the magic of Mary Poppins. She’s everything good in the world.
