48. Mother Gothel

"“Great. Now I’M the bad guy.” -Mother Gothel"

There’s some bias with this pick. Mother Gothel is one of the most evil mothers in all of Disney. What’s worse is she isn’t related to Rapunzel. She kidnapped and manipulated her. This stunted her growth as a person and left her real parents and her hometown distressed.

Mother Gothel lied about everything to keep Rapunzel trapped in a tower. It doesn’t end there. Gothel used Repunzel to stay young. It was one of the most disgusting things a Disney mother has done. It wasn’t just petty. It was narcissistic and abusive.

Mother Gothel isn’t ranked higher because she wasn’t a big influence in Tangled. Nevertheless, she’s still one of the worst “mothers” ever.

47. Megara

"“If there’s a prize for rotten judgment/ I guess I’ve already won that/ No man is worth the aggravation/ That’s ancient history, been there, done that!” -Megara"

Megara was fun and helped redefine what an antagonist is. She wasn’t necessarily a bad person. Megara was caught in a situation that forced her to do bad things. However, that doesn’t absolve her from the things she was doing. She made a deal and had to accept the consequences. When everything was all said and done, she redeemed herself. It took a lot to know her actions would possibly kill her. That meant being sent to the underworld. Thankfully, she made the right decision when it mattered.
