1. Rick O’Connell

Oh, wow, who knew?! (deep sarcasm)

I think just saying that Rick is played by the absolutely wholesome, amazing, talented, gorgeous, fun, relatable, and all-around wonderful human that is Brendan Fraser. That should be enough. But hey, let’s talk about Rick, shall we?

First and foremost, Rick O’Connell is the kind of man who keeps us glued to our seats. He’s a bundle of adventure and excitement. Imagine going from chasing golden treasures and battling ancient evils to being thrown into a sweet romance with the lovely Evie. His witty one-liners and quirky comebacks not only make us laugh but also show us a side of him that’s very down-to-earth.

Now, what makes him even more special is his transformation. Rick isn’t just about treasure hunts and dodging danger – he’s also about heart. Watching him grow from a daring soldier to a doting dad and husband is like watching your favorite action figure come to life and, surprise, he can also cook dinner and read bedtime stories (RIP Tony Stark). His love story with Evie isn’t just about the sparks and the passion, it’s about finding a partner-in-crime (or, in their case, a partner-in-adventure) – something we can all relate to.

Rick also teaches us that even heroes, regardless of almost being hung to death or constantly having to run away from mummies, have a soft side just like (most of) us. Much like Evie reminds me of my mama, Rick is very much a mirror image of my dad – not just because my dad did resemble Brendan Fraser when this movie came out (and my mom does look a lot like Evie, too. Wait, am I Alex??), but because Rick is legitimately a good, solid bean. And who wouldn’t love a hero who can both save the day and remember your favorite bedtime story?
