8. The Scorpion King

Yes. The CGI is disturbingly horrendous, I’m very aware. It’s something I’ve learned to ignore as I’ve rewatched this movie more times than I can count.

Everyone was so pumped to see The Scorpion King, played by the charismatic Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in The Mummy Returns, and his reputation definitely precedes him – there’s always this buzz about him that keeps us eagerly waiting for one of his grand entrances whenever he’s cast in a movie. And while we do get some awesome glimpses of The Scorpion King (the CGI being terrible aside), he’s like that favorite song of yours that doesn’t play for long enough on the radio.

The reason he lands at number 8 on our list is not that he isn’t cool – because let’s face it, he’s super cool – but when compared to the plethora of other characters who get more screen time and have a chance to really share their stories and emotions, his role feels a tad limited. It definitely leaves you wanting more.

So while he certainly makes an impact, especially in The Mummy Returns, and adds a great twist to the movie, other characters just have a bit more time to shine brightly in the storyline. That is remedied in the spin-off movie, The Scorpion King, especially if you take the time to watch him in The Scorpion King, a movie that follows him on a really cool journey.
