The 10 best characters from The Mummy, ranked
3. Imhotep
Oh, Imhotep, our favorite mummy. Let’s start with the fact that he isn’t your average, run-of-the-mill villain. Most baddies are just out there causing chaos for the sake of it, but not our man Imhotep. You see, he’s driven by a love so powerful it’s kept him going for thousands of years – quite literally. Now, that’s commitment! And patience. And dedication. Not quite sure what his entire plan was after killing Pharaoh Seti I, but he was mummified alive – the ultimate punishment at the time – unleashing a curse on his mummified curse.
Once his deep sleep is interrupted and he is brought back to life, his focus is on bringing Anck-su-Namun back from the dead. While he might be wrapped up (tee hee) in trying to regain his power and status, deep down, it’s all about reuniting with her, his one true love. Every gesture, every spell, and even every creepy scarab is part of his grand love story. Kinda creepy, but ridiculously devoted – take notes, men.
Imhotep’s interactions with Evie are a brilliant dance of fate and destiny. Evelyn isn’t just any librarian, as we find out in The Mummy Returns – she has a deep connection to Imhotep’s past, making their encounters exciting and layered with history.
It’s like watching two forces of nature collide. Imhotep’s character is so intriguing because he combines the mystery of ancient Egypt with the emotions of a tragic love story. It’s no wonder he’s stealing the spotlight and clinching that number three spot on our list.
