Nancy Drew

Seasons: 4

It still pains me to see people shocked that there was, in fact, a Nancy Drew show on The CW and that it did, in fact, run for four seasons, but alas, the little-mystery-show-that-could was a staple of the network for quite some time. That is, until its premature cancellation before season 4 even premiered.

Nancy Drew‘s first season is one of the very best first seasons in TV history and the show deserves more exposure for that reason alone. It also deserved a much longer run, because Kennedy McMann’s leading performance and the journey of the title character she played was nothing short of phenomenal. To see her grow over four years was magical, but she deserved a much longer run, especially considering how passionate she was about the character.

With more exposure and a longer run, Nancy Drew could have been a modern day Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and it was still only beginning to figure itself out when it was taken off the air. Yes, it got the chance to wrap up, but its somewhat rushed final season still left a lot to the imagination, leaving us longing for more. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t meant to be.

Verdict: Cancelled too soon
