7. Twins

We mentioned how Arnold was a natural at comedy quite a few times on this list, but you probably won’t see a finer example of that than Twins. The film, directed by Ivan Reitman, is ludicrous from the beginning, and yet it’s ridiculously watchable. It’s also fondly remembered as one of the star’s finest movies.

The plot? Oh well, you know, just the fact that Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are twins. Yes, twins. Twins who were separated at birth and thus entirely unaware of each other’s existence. Needless to say, this creates quite the dynamic when the pair, named Julius and Vincent, eventually reunite. The movie is so silly but it has a lot of heart, and that makes it a successful comedy in my eyes.

I don’t know what’s funnier: The fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito were playing twins, the hilarious chemistry between them, or the fact that they both went on to play Batman villains in the same franchise (two of my favorite Batman villains, actually). Nevertheless, they made quite the pair, and that’s one of the reasons that Twins remains such a beloved part of both men’s filmographies.

It also gave us the iconic Schwarzenegger quote: “I did nothing. The pavement was his enemy”.
