5. Kindergarten Cop

So many of Schwarzenegger’s movies inspire such nostalgia but perhaps none does it quite so much as Kindergarten Cop. The movie where his comedy chops were used to absolute perfection, Ivan Reitman’s 1990 film is an unexpectedly perfect blend of everything that the actor is best known for, resulting in one of the finest performances of his entire career.

Kindergarten Cop is primarily a comedy, but it’s also part drama, part romance, part action movie, part everything else, and the marriage comes together beautifully. It’s ridiculous in every way, but it’s also everything that Schwarzenegger was doing right in the late ’80s and early ’90s, so to see it all come together here in this hilarious, family-friendly movie it’s just, well, it’s kinda heartwarming.

Detective John Kimble didn’t know what he was in for when he took on this assignment, and audiences didn’t know what they were in for whenever they went to see this movie. Needless to say, it ultimately worked out very well for all of us, and the result is a thoroughly enjoyable, ridiculously fun, and all-around lovable adventure.

From “stop it!” to “there is no bathroom!”, it’s also perhaps the most quotable movie of Arnold’s career.
