Loki

The second season of Loki was easily one of the biggest shows of the year. It was also one of the best.

Marvel Studios’ Disney Plus show about the MCU’s wickedly devilish trickster made history by being the only of the shows to – thus far – return for a second season. It was well worth it too, because audiences were very impressed by Loki season 2, with reactions ranging from awe to shock at all of the events that went down in the six-episode run.

It was a huge improvement over the first season and another welcome chance to see Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino and the others back in action. However, the ending of the season raised questions about whether there would be a third as it all seemed very, for lack of a better word, final.

Now Loki has joined the rest of its MCU Disney Plus peers in being somewhat ambiguous about its future. In fact, it’s not looking likely that it will return at all, as head writer Eric Martin revealed to CinemaBlend that in season 2, they “close the book on Loki and the TVA”, suggesting that the story they wanted to tell was “complete”.

Taking all of the uncertainty about Loki‘s future into account, it’s safe to say that the show won’t be returning for new episodes in 2024. It might return sometime in the future if Marvel and the creative team can come up with another story for the character, but even then, it won’t be next year.

The good news is that there will be more Marvel TV shows coming your way next year in the form of Echo and Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
