4. The show was called The Flash, not Team Flash

There are few words to describe how unbelievably epic it was whenever you saw members of The Flash Family teaming up to save the day. The Flash, Kid Flash, Jay Garrick, XS, Impulse, Iris; any combination of that team of speedsters looked so good together that it still boggles the mind that the series continually chose the Team Flash combination over them.

The show’s reliance on the Team Flash concept has been a long-term problem, with fans pointing out early on that Barry Allen struggled to solve any problems by himself, but that was at least forgivable when it was a team of smart and lovable characters. The more recent iteration of Team Flash was not-so-great, and the show continually shoehorned them into storylines as if they were as important to the plot as its leads (they weren’t) and subsequently marketed the series as if it were about Team Flash (and not, I don’t know maybe The Flash?!).

Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman aside, all of the Arrowverse shows have struggled with its heroic team from time-to-time, forgetting that the titular hero is actually the protagonist, but none have fallen victim to it quite like The Flash. And it never learned from those mistakes – something that can be proven by its disappointing final season and the abhorrent cover art for The Flash‘s complete series boxset.

The show was called The Flash – not “Team Flash”.
