7. Robert Pattinson

The most recent of our cape-donning crimefighters on the big-screen, Robert Pattinson played the title role in 2022’s The Batman and instantly etched his name among the best actors to ever portray the character.

The thing that sets his interpretation apart from his predecessors is the fact that there isn’t as much duality between his Batman and Bruce Wayne; they are more or less one and the same.

It’s all down to the fact that the Matt Reeves franchise is giving us a look at a Batman very early on in his career, so he hasn’t yet become the hopeful protector of Gotham. The same could be said for Bruce, who has become a recluse since the murder of his parents, barely going out and refusing to adopt any kind of public persona.

As a result, Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne feels exactly the same as his Batman (just without the mask and armor). He’s broody and likes to keep himself to himself. He also barely features in the movie, as The Batman holds the distinct honor of being one of the only real Batman movies to highlight how much of a detective the hero is. Ironically, most of the times we see Bruce, he’s still investigating. Ever the detective.

Pattinson did a swell job as Bruce, but we have a feeling he will move further up this list whenever that end of Batman’s personality is given more to do in the sequels.
