5. David Mazouz

Perhaps no actor knows the modern day Bruce Wayne better than David Mazouz, and that’s because (Adam West and Kevin Conroy aside) nobody has spent more time with the character than he has.

Mazouz portrayed a young Bruce Wayne on all five seasons of Fox’s prequel series Gotham and he delivered what is perhaps the most nuanced portrayal of the character we have seen thus far. Over the course of those five seasons (along with some time-jumps), Bruce evolves from a scared and grieving young boy into the the vigilante protector of Gotham and the show takes a great deal of time with his story, showing audiences how that evolution took place.

The young actor did a wonderful job with some very ambitious material. Gotham was known for its ability to go big, and Mazouz rose to every occasion, taking on every challenge, and ultimately excelling. He gave us a chance to see a side of Bruce’s life that we don’t often see, showcasing the depth of the character even in his younger days.

The future Batman was more of a supporting character in the show’s early days but even then, Mazouz was a scene-stealer. When the show began focusing on his training (both as Bruce and the Batman), he got the spotlight he deserved, showing us all what he was really capable of.

Young Bruce was a prodigy and Mazouz captured that perfectly.
