Armor Wars
Armor Wars remains one of the most unique Marvel Studios projects on the horizon because it has yet to be assigned a release date. All we know is that it’s coming, not when it’s coming.
We also know that this project was originally envisioned as a Disney Plus series before it was repackaged as a movie instead. However, given that we’re now apparently living in an era of “superhero fatigue”, we could see this one being far more successful as a TV series.
It’s not because people don’t love Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, but the character hasn’t been a prominent figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Avengers: Endgame. Captain Marvel was in the same predicament with The Marvels and its underperformance could have lasting effects on the MCU releases. Furthermore, Rhodey did play something of a prominent role in Secret Invasion in what is widely regarded as one of the worst – if not the worst – plot twists in MCU history.
We can’t wait to see Don Cheadle back on our screens in a leading MCU role, but don’t be too surprised if the Armor Wars movie is cancelled and that Marvel revives its original plan of making this one a TV series. It’s the safest option right now as it figures out a way to make Phases 5 and 6 tell a more coherent story.
