As we come to the end of 2023, let’s look back on the very best and the very worst of genre TV. Which TV shows shone bright and which ones didn’t quite land?

Somehow we have found ourselves at the end of another year. 2023 was an interesting one for the entertainment industry, with strikes dominating the headlines for the second half of it, and delays aplenty.

Television was quite a ride this year. It’s always a ride, let’s be honest, but 2023 had some history-making to do on TV. We witnessed the long-awaited arrival of video-game-turned-HBO-series The Last of Us, saw the God of Mischief return for some more time-travel madness, and even tuned into some football games to see Taylor Swift!

We also said goodbye to plenty of iconic TV shows, with The FlashRiverdaleTitansDoom Patrol, and Fear The Walking Dead among those who brought their curtains down this year. Meanwhile, there were some major comebacks, with The Mandalorian and Invincible returning to screens for the first time in over two years.

It’s been a year for TV, specifically genre TV – which is something we love here! With that in mind, let’s look back at 2023 and take some time to acknowledge the very best – and the very worst – of the genre TV shows this year.
