The Boys has grown into such a force that the absence of a new season of the Amazon Prime Video series was felt this year. Luckily, there is a new season on the way – and even more luckily, we had spinoff series Gen V to entertain us this year.

It wasn’t until this show came along that you realized how unexplored the world of Vought International really still was. The story of Gen V revolves around the students at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, all of whom are hopeful young superheroes in with a chance of joining The Boys‘ superhero team known as The Seven.

With an incredible cast featuring Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Shelley Conn, and Patrick Schwarzenegger and as crazy good a story as you’d expect from this creative team, Gen V earned its place in The Boys‘ universe and filled the between-seasons gap for its parent show. We can’t wait to see where it goes in season 2.

Of all the new TV shows this year, this was one of the most promising.

Invincible Season 2 on Prime Video /

Invincible

The fact that Invincible season 2 ended up on this list after streaming just four episodes says all you need to know about the quality of writing in the show. It was a long wait for new episodes (nearly three years, in fact) but it was a wait that was absolutely worth it in the end – which we never had any doubt of.

Season 2 finally shows us the long-awaited aftermath of the harrowing season 1 finale, and in just a few short episodes, you feel like you’ve been through another harrowing finale – because, honestly, you basically have been. The midseason finale features some genuinely jaw-dropping moments – jaw-dropping enough to ensure that you’ll be returning to tune into the next part of Mark Grayson’s story whenever it premieres on Prime Video next year.
