Fear The Walking Dead

The more I think about how Fear The Walking Dead started, the more I get frustrated by how it turned out. The show had so much promise in its opening seasons, with the story of the Clark family’s attempt to survive the beginning of the apocalypse (and their own demons) being far more compelling than the Walking Dead wannabe that it became.

The infamous decision to kill off two of its main characters in season 4 and replace them with personality vacuum, the monologue-loving Morgan (from The Walking Dead) was only the beginning of its bad decisions, as it would continue to introduce bland new characters, convoluted (and yet underdeveloped) new villains, and an abundance of logic-defying plots.

The only thing that could get us excited about the eighth and final season of the show was the return of the previously “killed off” Madison Clark as it meant that the show’s rightful leader was back for its conclusion. The fact that Morgan stepped aside to give her that rightful spotlight was also a nice touch, like the creative team were finally acknowledging how much they fumbled the show’s run by replacing her with him.

Nevertheless, the final season continued to fall victim to the same logic-defying senselessness that has plagued the show since season 4. Its finale wasn’t well-received by audiences, and it was just another reminder that tampering with the perfection of the show’s incredible third season was a huge mistake. Still though, seeing Kim Dickens back in action as Madison was awesome.

I love Fear The Walking Dead so much, and the show deserved so much better than this.

Verdict: WORST
