Batman has donned many Batsuits during his near-century on our screens. But which of the capes and cowls stand out as the best, and which ones don’t quite hit the mark?

The Dark Knight has been a fixture of the pop-culture landscape for close to a century. He’s stood the test of time, that’s for sure, and a large part of that endurance is down to his iconic look. They don’t call him Batman for nothing, and the Caped Crusader has certainly put a lot of effort into his appearance over the years, with the legendary Batsuit doing all the talking so that the man of few words doesn’t have to. There have been many versions of it over the years but they have all been a look.

When Batman first debuted in the pages of DC Comics back in 1939, he stood out for his intimidating black cowl (complete with haunting bat-ears) and huge winged cape. Though he has gone through many evolutions over the years (including a blue-and-grey color scheme), most of that look has generally remained the same, and it’s easy to see why.

The Batsuit has also made quite the impression on both moviegoers and TV viewers over the past eight decades. All versions of it are legendary, but they don’t all stand the test of time. With that in mind, let’s take this opportunity to look back at all of the live-action Batsuits to appear on the big and small screens, and rank them.
