10. Batman Forever (Sonar Suit)

When The Riddler destroyed all of the Batsuits in the Batcave, he didn’t anticipate Bruce Wayne storing a secret prototype Sonar Suit. But that’s exactly what happened in Batman Forever.

This was the most unique Batsuit of all at the time, particularly because it was freakin’ silver. A real departure of sorts, it also kind of works, matching Batman Forever‘s colorful tone really well. It’s also aesthetically pleasing in an odd kind of way. Too reflective at times, sure, but really cool to look at.

The basic cowl outline is essentially the same as those that came before it but there are some modifications, including rung-like markings on the era area and a sharper-cut mouth opening.

It’s also notable for being the first suit to drop the yellow Bat emblem, replacing it with a much larger Bat symbol across the full chest area (a movement which was also happening in the comics and Batman: The Animated Series around the same time).

Yes, it was created to sell toys and didn’t really showcase its effectiveness outside of the epic “blind as a bat” moment during the final battle, but the Sonar Suit is a look – one that Val Kilmer pulled off very well.
