4. Batman Begins

The Dark Knight may have highlighted the previous Batsuits’ inability to allow Bruce to move his head, but that doesn’t change the fact that the suit Christian Bale wore prior to the upgrade is one of the most beautiful to ever grace the silver screen. It’s much like the film it belongs to in that sense, as Batman Begins is a sheer masterpiece of a movie that often gets overshadowed by its sequel. But right now, we’re here to appreciate it and its Batsuit.

Much like what we would see nearly two decades later in The Batman, the Batsuit used in Batman Begins is both tactical and terrifying. There are some similarities to the suits seen in the previous Batman movie franchise, but Christopher Nolan opted for a more grounded take. Almost all of the yellow accents were removed, the utility belt was more of a golden color, and the suit itself was highly-protective body armor that just so happened to feature a large colorless bat symbol across the chest area.

While tactical and grounded was indeed Nolan’s M.O. in The Dark Knight Trilogy, what sets Batman Begins‘ Batsuit apart from its more logical successor is just how intimidating it was. The cowl was larger than others, and the suit itself looked more complete than the divided look of the armor plates seen in The Dark Knight. Of course, there is also the cape, which could be manipulated into huge Bat-wings. There may have been a logical explanation for everything but that didn’t make him look any less supernatural.

Batman was out here looking like a creature of the night, which means they understood the assignment!
