2. Batman Returns
Michael Keaton’s second adventure behind the mask brought with it a more streamlined Batsuit – one that would become the template for which many of the subsequent Batman productions would base their designs on.
The Batman Returns suit was sharper, shinier, and more finished looking than its predecessor. This was a Batman who was in the prime of his crime-fighting career, surrounded by the best of weaponry and the highest quality of Batsuits. That much was clear from the new abdomen design on the armor. Less like the sculpted anatomy of a human body and more like a protective wall of armor that it is, this suit was more functional than what came before. Well, at least until Catwoman gets her claws into it (literally!).
There is definitely a charm to the unearthly, tattered look of Batman ’89, but if you’re looking for a more traditional, cleaner, and efficient Batsuit, this is the one for you. It’s no surprise that The Flash movie used this one as the basis for Keaton’s new Batsuit when he reprised the role, as it really has stood the test of time as one of the greatest Batsuits to ever grace the screen.
