14. Batman and Robin’s Ice Armor Batsuit

You knew you’d find your way to a Batman and Robin entry on this list sooner than later. Coming up first, we have the Ice Armor Batsuit, which George Clooney wore in the back half of the 1997 film as his Caped Cruasder went up against Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze.

The Joel Schumacher Batman movies were renowned for giving their heroes suit upgrades for the final act, but both times we were left wondering if they were really upgrades. Now, that’s not to take anything away from the theory. Batman has used Ice Armor to battle Mr. Freeze in multiple stories over the years, so that makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is this suit’s actual design.

Essentially just a Batsuit with an odd silver and black grey scheme, this outfit didn’t have any unique upgrades that made it imperative for battling Mr. Freeze (thawing devices aside). They were imperative for Batman and Robin‘s purpose though: To sell more toys. And there is no denying that it looks cool, which was the goal at the end of the day.

Like much of Batman and Robin, style won out over substance here. And I guess that’s okay.
