Batman: All 20 Batsuits ranked from worst to best
12. Batman and Robin’s primary Batsuit
The main Batsuit worn by George Clooney in Batman and Robin gets a pretty bad rap (like everything in that movie) because of the infamous Bat-nipples. It’s true that they weren’t necessary (nor was that movie objectively very good), but if you take those away, you actually have a great Batsuit on your hands – one that doesn’t get anywhere near enough love.
This one takes its cues from the other Batsuits featured in the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher franchise (specifically 1995’s Batman Forever), with a cowl design that was in-line with previous ones. That said, it also had something of a more wrinkled look about it, which made sense given we were dealing with a veteran Batman here.
The body design (inspired by Ancient Greek statues) is obviously controversial, but there is something really nice about this Batsuit’s blue hue, especially since it boldly opted not to color the iconic Bat emblem its traditional yellow-and-black. It also has more a sleek finish, making it much shinier than its predecessors, and the thick, sharp gauntlet design is a real nice touch.
There are a lot of things wrong with Batman and Robin. This Batsuit is not one of them. Honestly, without the Bat-nipples, it would still hold up today. And, like his performance or not, Clooney looked great in it.
