If you’re a fan of comics, or reading in general, these are the 50 comic books of the 2000s that you have to check out.

There was a time when comic book fans would only see DC and Marvel. They were the juggernauts that no one could stop. Smaller companies were still around, but they weren’t as prominent. With characters like Superman and Spider-Man and teams like the Avengers and the Justice League, how would anyone compete with them? As people have seen, nothing lasts forever.

Around the 1980’s, things changed. Characters like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were created. This offered writers and artists new ways to create characters. More importantly, more in-depth stories were told. Once that happened, the world of comic books advanced.

Marvel and DC Comics are still ahead of the game. However, fans are discovering there are alternatives. Publishing comics is easier than ever. This means creatives don’t need big companies. Also, no matter what you’re into, there’s something for you.

Coming up, this writer will introduce the 50 greatest comic books of the 2000s. Not only will you be given the comics, but you’ll receive a quick reason to check them out. Let’s begin with something that’s not Marvel or DC.

Writer’s note: These comic books are not in order from best to worst.
