Batman: All 10 Batcaves ranked from worst to best
4. Batman Returns
Batman Returns might have been a sequel to Batman, but it was less of a direct sequel and more of a loose follow-up. Tim Burton had more say in the 1992 movie, and as a result, all of the locations were heavily redesigned. The Batcave is one of the more subtle redesigns, but the changes are clear.
Like its predecessor, it also leans heavily into the cave aspect of the Dark Knight’s base of operations, albeit in different ways. The first overhead shot of the Batcave reveals multiple different platforms of rock upon which various important elements of the cave are housed. One is the docking station for the Batmobile, while another is the primary workstation that features the Batcomputer. There are lower platforms that aren’t actually showcased throughout the rest of the movie. And below all of them; a bottomless pit.
It wouldn’t be a Tim Burton movie if it didn’t look as terrifying as it did stunning. The only thing that prevents this legendary Batcave from ranking a bit higher is that we don’t actually see much of it outside of the Batcomputer area. And that’s a shame considering its epic design.
