4 TV shows that definitely won't be back in 2025

The television landscape is sure set to be an exciting one in 2025, but it unfortunately won't feature these four amazing TV shows.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

The moment that fans of The Walking Dead had been waiting for for almost seven years finally came to fruition in 2024: Rick Grimes and Michonne returned to our screens. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was a six-part miniseries that aired on AMC and streamed on AMC+ earlier this year, to acclaim from both critics and long-time fans of the original series. It was truly worth the wait and it left audiences wanting more.

Unfortunately, there won't be more, as The Ones Who Live was indeed a miniseries. The plot of the series was originally envisioned as a trilogy of Rick Grimes movies, but over the course of the multi-year gap (and the pandemic), the decision was made to evolve it into a series instead, which would carry on the legacy of the TWD Universe after the original series concluded. The six episodes were used to tell that story, and even though the finale left things feeling a little rushed towards the end, it succeeded in what it set out to do.

With Rick and Michonne back in Alexandria with Judith and RJ, there is no more story to tell. That's not to say that we won't see the pair again, as the feeling is that Rick and Michonne will be there when Daryl and Carol return from Europe, when Maggie and Negan finish their adventures in New York City, and when The Walking Dead Universe is ready to bow out once and for all.

Whether that's on a new standalone crossover series, or one of Daryl Dixon or Dead City remains to be seen, but it unfortunately won't be on another season of The Ones Who Live as the show has - for now at least - concluded its run on AMC and AMC+.
