It goes without saying that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is one of the most anticipated new shows of 2026. Heck, it's in the upper realms of that list, with fans excited for the next installment in the long-standing Game of Thrones franchise from HBO. It won't even be the only new chapter in the saga (the third season of House of the Dragon arrives this summer as well), so there is plenty to look forward to from the iconic George R. R. Martin story.
The newest spinoff got off to a strong start, with audiences already falling in love with Ser Duncan the Tall and his Squire, the mysterious, odd, and incredibly witty Egg. To say that they are ready for more adventures from the pair would be an understatement. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 2, titled "Hard Salt Beef", is released next Sunday, January 25, at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT. For those watching on Mountain time, that's 8:00 p.m. MT and, also, viewers in the Midwest can watch at 9:00 p.m. CT. The show airs an hour later than typical HBO shows due to the fact that Industry holds the current 9pm ET timeslot normally held for prestige dramas. And, furthermore, as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is much shorter than its predecessors - having a 30-minute runtime per episode - it wouldn't be able to fill out the full hour of that coveted timeslot in the way that Industry does.
Like the first installment, the second episode of the Game of Thrones spinoff will air at the top of the hour on HBO, with the episode instantly being available to stream for HBO Max subscribers. Although the original series pulled in large viewing figures exclusively to HBO, the world has changed significantly since due to the surge of streaming, which makes he simultaneous release on both platforms a more successful approach in 2026.
Dunk and Egg's stories have only just gotten started. As fans get invested in their journeys and prepare themselves for what is undoubtedly going to be an incredible adventure, they can expect five more installments in the first season. Yep, that's right: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms features six episodes in its first season, with each one of them airing on Sunday nights.
Honestly, that's pretty apt for a Game of Thrones show, as both the original series and first spinoff House of the Dragon were staples of Sunday night throughout their runs - just like many classic HBO dramas before and after them. We have no doubt that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will etch its name there right along with them.
