Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious live-action superhero films ever made, and its casting announcement only doubles down on this idea. For the first time since the inception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will join forces with the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and New Avengers to fight one of the most terrifying villains in the multiverse: Doctor Doom.
But despite the fact that over 25 characters are officially confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that even more heroes are bound to steal the spotlight. For a time, multiple rumors indicated that Marvel would make a second cast announcement to unveil the remaining stars set to join the crossover, but that didn't end up being the case. So, the question still stands: Who else will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in their fight for the multiverse? Well, we may finally have an answer thanks to the movie's official merch.
Deadpool is featured in new Avengers: Doomsday merch
Adidas has unveiled its new Avengers: Doomsday tie-in merch, and one of the products is a black T-shirt featuring Doctor Doom's glove "tearing" the fabric, much like he's about to tear the multiverse apart. The ruler of Latveria is not alone, as you can spot multiple Marvel heroes confirmed to appear in the movie through the tears, including Thor, Gambit, the Thing, and Beast. Interestingly, in the area where the villain's thumb is, you can also spot another Marvel anti-hero: Deadpool.

The Merc With a Mouth wasn't part of the initial Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, but multiple signs indicate that he'll be in the movie either way. For starters, Ryan Reynolds attended Marvel's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, fully dressed in Deadpool's X-Force suit, and asked Kevin Feige whether he could also join the cast of the upcoming crossover. While his appearance could be largely written off as a joke, it could also be seen as a tease of what's to come. Otherwise, why dedicate time in the presentation to a simple cameo?
Industry insider James Mack has also revealed that Deadpool will make a "cameo appearance" in all three acts of Avengers: Doomsday. The first time we'll see him will be during the film's opening, when the X-Men are rumored to invade the universe inhabited by Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and fight the wall-crawler. The second time will be during the Avengers vs. X-Men battle, which will take place in the X-Mansion, as revealed by the trailers released so far. The third time will be during the explosive and climactic final battle.
Furthermore, multiple other scoopers have doubled down on the idea that Avengers: Doomsday will kick things off with a big fight between Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. This scene will reportedly showcase that the X-Men have survived multiple incursions by eradicating the universe that's about to clash with theirs.
Avengers Endgame: Encore supports this idea, as one of its post-credits scenes reveals that Earth-10005 (the X-Men universe) is trying to destroy another world in the midst of a larger incursion. Furthermore, the official Avengers: Doomsday trailer features a shot of Professor X looking at the destruction of a world from within the X-Mansion, and fans have theorized that this could be the Earth on which Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man used to live.
At this point, it has been widely accepted by the superhero community that the Avengers: Doomsday opening features the wall-crawler fighting Wolverine and Deadpool. So even if the Merc With a Mouth hasn't been officially confirmed to appear in the upcoming crossover, all signs indicate that he'll be there, and the new Adidas shirt only doubles down on that idea.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
