Daredevil: Born Again episode 4 release time, preview, and what to expect

The ending of Daredevil: Born Again's third episode furthered the storyline of police officers emulating Punisher, but where will things go next and who’s really behind the crooked cops?

The third episode of Daredevil: Born Again may not have had a lot of action, but it wasn’t short on drama. Before you continue, there will be spoilers for the previous episode.

It was time for Matt Murdock (Daredevil) to defend his client, Hector Ayala, and Matt thought he had an ace in the hole. In the second episode, Matt protected a witness to the alleged crime named Nicky Torres from being attacked by crooked cops. Murdock has Cherry keep Torres alive long enough to testify that Hector didn’t kill the police officer in the train station. However, when Torres got on the stand, he lied and said he was home all night.

Things looked bleak, but Matt had a backup plan. He told the jury that Hector was the White Tiger. That was a bold move since Matt initially ensured the prosecutor couldn't use that information. Thankfully, it was enough to turn the tide. Hector Ayala was found not guilty of all charges.

Later, White Tiger goes back on patrol only to be killed by someone wearing a bulletproof vest with the Punisher logo on it. This comes after the Punisher tattoo was seen on one of the officers in episode 2 and the other had the ink on his neck. There's no way that The Punisher himself, Frank Castle, committed these crimes. This becomes another reason for Fisk to come down on vigilantes and for Castle to appear in the next episode.

What to expect in Daredevil: Born Again episode 4

The Punisher doesn’t kill innocent people, so it's highly unlikely that what happened to Hector Ayala was down to Frank Castle. This is quite possibly another police officer taking matters into their own hands. It’s about time for Frank Castle to debut in Daredevil: Born Again. He must have heard that people are killing in his name. If he hasn't, Matt is going to tell him.

Besides the crooked cops, there’s another important storyline within that one.  Hector being killed is another reason for Mayor Wilson Fisk to come down on vigilantes. Yes, Fisk just went on TV and said Hector was guilty and the justice system failed everyone but he’ll likely spin this so that The Punisher becomes public enemy No.1.

One more thing to look for is if Fisk or Vanessa are behind the Punisher cops. On one hand, police officers in comic books (and, sadly, in real life) put Punisher logos on their cars. But, let’s be honest, neither Wilson nor Vanessa Fisk are above using the cops as tools. It would be a nice twist instead of those cops being boneheads.
