After waiting all season, Daredevil: Born Again season 1 finally gave fans a post-credit scene and after-credits tease, which gave fans a little bonus content to enjoy following the show’s explosive season 1 finale! Not only did we get a post-credits scene, but it was one that actually helped to set up a major Marvel project slated to be coming our way sometime in 2026.
Warning: Spoilers ahead from the Daredevil: Born Again finale.
Throughout the first season of the show, we’ve watched as Fisk has been building an army of his own complete with dirty cops and leveraged his power as Mayor of New York City to bring down the vigilantes who have protected and served the city… making them a major thorne in his side, especially the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. While Matt and Fisk might have had a temporary ceasefire early in the season, once Matt suited back up as Daredevil, he immediately became a threat to Fisk again, and we all know how Fisk deals with threats to his livelihood.
With Bullseye on the loose following his attempted assisnation of Fisk, Fisk enacts Martial Law and grants his Anti-Vigilante Task Force even more power. Knowing the walls are closing in on him, Matt heads to his apartment to grab some things which is when he’s greeted by Frank, who has come to help ensure Matt gets out alive. The pair team up and fight off the task force, making it out just in time with an assist from Karen. It turns out Karen called upon Frank to help Matt out, and honestly, it’s a good thing she did because we’re not sure Matt could have made it out alive in his current shape – because let’s not forget that Matt took a bullet for Fisk literally hours before all of this goes done.
As Matt and Karen head out to chase a lead, Frank ends up hearing a call come through over his radio about the taks force meeting back up at Red Hook and decides to take the fight to them. Frank walks right into the base of their operation adn begins taking out task force members one by one before they ultimately overpower him and bring him into custody after he refuses to commit to their cause and calls them out for being nothing but a bunch of f-cking clowns.
After killing the commissioner, Fisk secures even more power and makes it clear that Martial Law will remain in place until the streets are free of viglantes. What the city doesn’t know is that in putting a criminal in power, they’ve created an even bigger monster, one who now has infinite resources available at his disposal. Fortunately, Matt and Karen are determined to reclaim the city and bring Fisk to justice by assembling a team of their own.

The Daredevil: Born Again finale post-credit scene sets up The Punisher special
As Daredevil: Born Again season 1, episode 9 comes to a close, we learn that Fisk and Vanessa have begun holding those who have gotten in their way and refused to bend the knee in cages in an undisclosed location. This includes Hawkeye’s Jacques "Jack" Duquesne aka Swordsman and Frank Castle.
It looked like Frank’s fate was going to be left up in the air following the scene in which we saw him trapped in the cage before the episode ended. However, the post-credit scene brought a surprise continuation to Frank’s story which is going to directly set up The Punisher special which has been confirmed for 2026.
In the scene, we see Frank in his cell talking to a cop. Frank sparks a conversation with the cop before asking him if he’s familiar with who he is. The cop just so happens to be a fan of The Punisher, calling it an honor to meet Frank. As the cop extends his hand through the cell to shake Frank’s hand, Frank snaps the cop’s arm, and the clip fades to black as it’s hinted that Frank has managed to free himself from his cage.
The moment was used to seemingly set up Frank’s return for The Punisher special which Disney+ will air in 2026 alongside Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
What is going to be interesting is to see how Frank and The Punisher special will be weaved into the planned narrative for season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. One possible option is that the special airs before Daredevil: Born Again or alongside an early episode in the season as a way to give Frank a proper story without having him play second fiddle to the bigger narrative in the season.
We know that season 2 will see Matt building a team of vigilantes to take on Fisk, and we imagine Frank is going to be a part of that team. His journey to reconnect with Matt could make for an interesting story to be told. It would be interesting to see Frank fight his way out of the facility and seek out his own form of justice before teaming back up with Matt to take on Fisk. Perhaps he could even be a key to bringing in another character to join the fight against Fisk. Or maybe he just gets out of Dodge, leaving the fight against Fisk to Matt instead.
Whatever Marvel has planned, it’s clear the post-credit scene was used to help set up Frank’s return in his standalone special and we’re excited to see more of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher!
As for that after-credits scene? That was a more direct “Daredevil will return” banner, which isn’t exactly a surprise given season 2 is already filmin,g and we know the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen will return.
