A new season of Daredevil: Born Again is just around the corner, and we finally have our first official look at the highly anticipated second season of Marvel’s hit series!
Marvel Television has dropped the first official trailer for the new season of Daredevil: Born Again, which wastes no time in bringing the action. The new look at the upcoming second season of the hit series starts slow, but quickly kicks things into overdrive as Marvel Television offers up a tease of what's to come in the new season. Check out the trailer below:
Without a doubt, the highlight of the trailer comes with the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. “I hope you can walk because I’m not carrying you,” Jessica quips to Matt after entering a church to find him lying on a pew. We later get a glimpse of Jessica joining the fight against the Anti-Vigilante Task Force as she effortlessly uses a large metal door to swat away an Anti-Vigilante Task Force officer.
Ritter’s exact role in the new season remains a mystery, but given her presence in the trailer it seems likely fans should be in for some fun Jessica Jones moments in the season ahead! Her return to the character of Jessica Jones comes six years after the cancellation of the character’s Netflix series, and marks a major turning point for the MCU fans looking to see more of The Defenders team make their way into the present MCU timeline.
Also back for season 2 is Elden Henson, whose presence in the trailer was a fun surprise. Given that Foggy was murdered by Bullseye in season 1, Henson’s involvement in season 2 was unclear; however, the trailer has confirmed we’re going to get to see Foggy in some capacity this season. The brief glimpse of Foggy in the trailer does appear to be a flashback moment which seems to go down within an interrogation room or perhaps an attorney-client interview room at a prison.
In addition to Foggy and Jessica Jones, the trailer also serves up first looks at several key returning players including Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye, Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, and Matthew Lillard as the mysterious Mr. Charles, who appears briefly in the trailer right before we cut to a wanted poster for Matt Murdock is hung on a wall. This transition seems to hint that Lillard’s character will be at odds with Matt and/or his Daredevil alter ego, which wouldn’t be too surprising.
One character who is notably missing in action is Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, who fails to make an appearance in the trailer. Bernthal’s status heading into Daredevil: Born Again season 2 remains a mystery and his absence in the trailer is certainly going to create some panic among fans. The good news is that there is more from Bernthal’s Punisher ahead as the character will lead his own Disney+ special sometime this year and is expected to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day which hits theaters on July 31.
From Marvel Television, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will follow Matt Murdock as he tries to fight back against Mayor Wilson Fisk who has turned Daredevil into public enemy number one. From the shadows, Matt will turn to allies as he works to bring down Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home.
