The new and improved DC Universe has been off to a fantastic start, with projects like Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker Season 2 releasing to critical acclaim (though we don't talk about the finale of the latter). It's still early days, but fans are hopeful that DC has finally managed to crack the code behind creating a cohesive interconnected universe spanning movies, live-action shows, animated TV series, and video games. That's why 2026 will be key to determining whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally has a worthy rival.
This year will mark the release of three important DCU projects: Supergirl, Lanterns, and Clayface. Fans have already gotten a glimpse of the first two thanks to their official trailers. However, Clayface remains a bit of a mystery. After all, it's unusual for a B-list villain to have a theatrical debut before their respective hero (especially when said hero is Batman himself). That means we're about to witness something truly unique, and we finally know when we'll get our first glimpse at it.
The Clayface trailer will reportedly release in April or May
According to reliable insider Cryptic HD QUALITY, the Clayface trailer is aiming for an April or May release. With that in mind, there's a very strong case to make that the footage will be released during CinemaCon, which is set to take place from April 13 to 16, 2026.
If we look at DC Studios' track record, they seem to drop a trailer approximately 190 to 200 days before a movie's release. For example, the first Superman teaser came our way on Dec. 19, 2024, exactly 204 days before the Man of Steel took over the big screen once again. Furthermore, the first Supergirl teaser was released on Dec. 11, 2025, which is 197 days before the film hit theaters.
CinemaCon takes place 193Â days before Clayface premieres on October 23, 2026. As such, the event seems like the most likely place for DC to promote its upcoming supervillain movie, especially because it follows the same pattern that has been proven to be successful for its other movies.

Another likely option is that the Clayface trailer will be attached to Mortal Kombat II, another major Warner Bros. production. The video-game adaptation is scheduled for release on May 8, 2026, which coincides with Mother's Day weekend in the US and could lead to a significant promotional push, as audiences are likely to fill movie theaters. Besides, it would be fitting for an upcoming R-rated project to feature a first look at another R-rated film set to hit theaters later this year.
Despite being a recurring Batman villain, Clayface hasn't been adapted in live-action just yet. As a result, fans don't exactly know what to expect from the villain's body-horror film. DC must release a strong trailer that conveys a dark, mature tone without feeling overdone. This first look will be key to determining whether the studio has an upcoming gem on its hands, or if we're about to witness something that would belong in the failed Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Fortunately, April and May aren't far away from us now.
Clayface will be released on October 23, 2026.
