We're approaching a year since DC Comics' Absolute Universe was created, and it’s continued to keep fans intrigued. One of the reasons for that is the new takes on classic comic book characters. Wonder Woman has dived into magic more than physical violence, Superman is unsure of himself, and Absolute Martian Manhunter doesn’t have a physical form. Then there’s Scott Snyder’s Absolute Batman. Bruce Wayne is built like a tank and is friends with people who were his enemies on Earth Prime.

Writer Scott Snyder has been generous with the information about what’s coming in Absolute Batman. For example, when asked, “Which of the classic villains are you most excited to see Batman face off against in the absolute universe?” he said Bane. The Monster from Santa Prisca then debuted in issue No. 9, and it wasn’t disappointing. He was the skilled, intelligent, and giant force you expected with the Absolute Universe twist. If a tweet from Scott Snyder is any indication of what’s to come, we could see another well-known DC Comics character appear in this series.
There are a lot of Justice League characters that have yet to make their first appearance in Darkseid’s universe. Among them is Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow. In the tweet above, you can see someone asking about when - or if - the Emerald Archer will appear. Snyder answered that question simply with a smile, teasing the potential of more. During the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con, we all learned why he smiled.
It has officially been announced that Absolute Green Arrow is coming to Darkseid's twisted universe in 2026, and the series will be written by Pornsak Pichetshote, with art by Rafael Alburquerque.
Absolute Green will be a six-part mini-series, and, unlike the Bruce Wayne of this universe, the Emerald Archer will have his vast wealth. According to ComicBook.com, the Absolute Universe's Oliver Queen will be most like his Earth-Prime counterpart. It was also said that writer Pornsak Pichetshote is leaning into the character's wealth. That means we could be looking at a scenario where Oliver spent his time training like Batman in the main DC continuity.
DC Comics’ Absolute Universe has been hitting all its marks so far (arrow pun intended). It's been so good that Absolute Martian Manhunter went from a six-issue mini-series to a twelve-issue arc. That could happen with this series, too. Now that the hero of Star City is coming, we need to know his motivations.
We can assume that Oliver won’t be exactly like the Green Arrow we know. He could be weaker, insecure, and only trying to be a hero because he’s wealthy and bored. The latter could be why Pornsak Pichetshote is focusing on his wealth. Being a spoiled billionaire would fit in with the Absolute Universe’s corrupted versions of classic heroes. For now, we’ll have to wait for more news about the series to drop. When more is revealed, Bam Smack Pow will be here to report it.
