DC is home to many iconic and powerful characters, but few are as beloved and renowned as the Trinity itself. Superhero fans all around the world are familiar with Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman, which is why the latter was responsible for kickstarting the new and improved version of the DCU. The Man of Steel made a big impact on the big screen courtesy of his 2025 solo movie, which is why we're all eager to discover when it will be time for the Caped Crusader and the Amazonian Goddess to steal the spotlight for themselves.

DC Studios Co-Chairman and Co-CEO James Gunn confirmed that a new Wonder Woman movie is being written, while a Batman solo project is also in the works. The Brave and the Bold will follow the iconic father-son duo, Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne, as they work together to protect Gotham City. Such a concept has never been seen before on the big screen, which is why fans are excited to see the DCU's iteration of Batman and Robin jump into action. Unfortunately, no official release date for The Brave and the Bold has been announced yet, but we now have an update on its release window.

Batman's DCU movie, The Brave and the Bold, will be released after The Batman - Part II

Every so often, James Gunn takes to social media to answer questions from fans. This time, he was asked when we could get an update on The Brave and the Bold, to which he responded: "I'm dependent on when there's an actionable script ready so there is no way of me guessing this. Also, frankly, we're well into Batman 2, and I wouldn't want to cloud the Batsphere until after that."

The Batman - Part II is set to release on Oct. 1, 2027, which means the earliest The Brave and the Bold could release is 2028. Incidentally, we don't know what the DCU's slate will look like after 2027. Movies like Wonder Woman, Teen Titans, and The Brave and the Bold are already confirmed, but we have yet to learn when they are coming our way. DC will likely announce more about its cinematic future during San Diego Comic-Con, and we could finally know when we'll get to see the new iteration of Bruce Wayne make his debut.

James' statement also confirms that The Brave and the Bold script isn't ready yet, despite recent reports suggesting otherwise. Incidentally, Gunn also shut down the rumor that the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, will feature Wonder Woman or Batman, as auditions for those roles haven't started yet. With that in mind, it's safe to say it will take a while before audiences get to watch DC's Trinity on the big screen once again.

On the bright side, James Gunn also gave fans some good news. He confirmed that Clayface is still on track to be released this September and that Dynamic Duo is progressing "really, really well". As for The Dark Knight, we'll get to see him in 2026's LEGO Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight, before he glides back onto the big screen courtesy of The Batman - Part II. Speaking of which, we've also learned a lot of exciting updates regarding Matt Reeves' movie.

Sebastian Stan was cast in an undisclosed role in The Batman - Part II, though it has been all but confirmed that the iconic actor will bring Harvey Dent to life. Scarlett Johansson also joined the film, and it has been rumored that she'll portray Gilda Dent. Furthermore, Barry Keoghan's Joker is reported to make a comeback in the highly anticipated sequel. After a long wait, The Batman - Part II finally feels like a reality, and it's nice to know it will help make the wait for The Brave and the Bold feel shorter. There's plenty more Batman coming our way over the upcoming years, and we wouldn't want it any other way.
