You don't have to look too far to find Marvel success stories. The superheroes of the Marvel Universe have been present throughout pop-culture over the past half-century but the past two decades have pushed them even further into the mainstream. Thanks to the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, everybody knows what the world of Marvel superheroes entail.

The MCU has even started producing its own TV shows for the Disney Plus streaming service, adding to that long-standing legacy of Marvel characters appearing on the small screen (in both live-action and animated projects). It's wonderful to see, but it's also worth remembering that this legacy is long-standing and that Marvel characters have been entertaining audiences on television prior to the MCU's existence - and still do to this day.

Marvel's TV legacy continues as Disney has revealed that it has renewed one of the most popular Marvel shows for not one but two more seasons.

Spidey and His Amazing Friends renewed for a sixth season shortly after its already-confirmed fifth season renewal

Disney Branded Television has renewed fan-favorite animated series Spidey and His Amazing Friends for a sixth season, adding to the fifth season renewal that it already received in February. As revealed by Variety, the good news may be a pleasant surprise, but it should come as no surprise as the show is currently the No. 2 streaming series for kids and boys aged 2 -5 in the US.

To put into perspective just how important these early renewals are, the show's fourth season hasn't even premiered yet. It's set to debut on June 16 on Disney Jr., later that same day on both Disney Channel and Disney Jr. on demand, and Disney Plus the following day (where six episodes will be available to stream).

The show isn't part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe juggernaut but it is produced by Marvel Studios Animation (who also produce MCU-adjacent animated offerings such as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, X-Men '97, and What If...? (as well as upcoming miniseries Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies). Given the success of those shows and the popularity of Spidey And His Amazing Friends, it's safe to say that the studio is doing a very good job on the animation font.

Spidey And His Amazing Friends is also about to stage a pretty notable event of its own. Now that we know it will have at least a six-season run, it will surpass the legendary '90s series Spider-Man: The Animated Series (which also ran for five seasons) to become the longest-running Spidey show.

The series has become a fan-favorite among young audiences since it first launched in 2021 and it focuses on a number of Spider-Man-related and Marvel characters early-on in their crime-fighting careers. Among the many beloved characters to appear are, of course, Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, Miles Morales, Aunt May, Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant-Man, The Wasp, and Black Panther.

The first three seasons of Spidey And His Amazing Friends are now streaming on Disney Plus. Season 4 premieres on June 16 on Disney Jr., with new episodes being added to Disney Plus the next day.
