Moana doesn't have a post-credits scene, but there is a reason to stick around

Does Moana have a post-credits scene? No, but you should still stay behind after the credits begin rolling on the Disney remake for a surprise.

Disney is going back to the world of Moana for the third time in a decade as the beloved story returns to the silver screen for a live-action reimagining. The studio is no stranger to reviving their classic properties for live-action remakes (from the original wave in the '90s with 101 Dalmatians to the modern reboots like The Little Mermaid) and now, this classic story is the newest to get that treatment.

While there were some questions about this approach - particularly because animated sequel Moana 2 was released in theaters only two years ago - perhaps the biggest question that moviegoers will be asking this weekend will be: Does Moana have a post-credits scene? After all, Disney owns Marvel Studios - which is single-handedly responsible for the rise in post and mid-credits scenes over the past two decades - so can you leave theaters as soon as the credits roll, or is there a reason to stick around after the credits? Interestingly, there is no post-credits scene, but there is a reason to stay.

Moana's end credits feature a stunning new song from original Moana star

Although Moana doesn't feature a post-credits scene, there is a pretty big reason to stick around after the credits begin rolling. Those credits feature a delightful new original song titled "Along The Way" featuring the voices of Catherine Laga'aia, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and original Moana star herself Auli'i Cravalho.

This is a tasteful way of paying tribute to both iterations of Moana and bringing two different generations together. Laga'aia portrays the titular hero in this film while Cravalho voices her in both the original 2016 animated film and its 2024 sequel Moana 2. Johnson plays demigod Maui in all three films, making him the only star from the original movies to reprise his role in the live-action remake.

"Along The Way" is a heartfelt piece of music that doesn't appear anywhere else in the film, so if you would like to hear it then you should definitely stick around after the credits. It's also worth sticking around to see all of the names of the talented individuals who worked on the film - and appreciate their work after seeing it for yourself.

Moana, like the animated movie, tells the story of a hopeful teenager who is chosen by the ocean to save the heart of goddess Te Fiti and ultimately save their island. To do that, she must team up with the demigod who stole it, Maui. What comes after that is a magical, mystical adventure.

Moana is the most recent Disney remake in a long line of them and it's already dividing critics, with the animated original seen as superior by the vast majority of them. While that's understandable considering how larger-than-life, original, and immersive that the animated film is, you can rest assured that fans will enjoy seeing the story play out in live-action, too - even if there are some changes to the story.

Moana has arrived in movie theaters.
